Properties

  • Radon is a chemical element that lives in group 18, period six of the periodic table.

  • It is a colourless, odourless, tasteless and radioactive noble gas with no stable isotopes.

  • Rn-222 has a half life of 3.8 days and is the natural decay product of radium.

 

Interesting aspects

  • Radon is one of the densest substances that remains a gas under normal condition

  • Radon sometimes glows red or green in discharge tubes.
